We started a new project at Babylon Boat Works, replacing the fuel tank on an 18 foot Boston Whaler. Normally we are busy only in the winter season as most people do not want to give up their boating time in the summer. This boat however had a fuel tank problem that had to be addressed immediately.
In addition to the fuel cell we are also going to replace the rub rail, adding hydraulic steering and a few other cosmetic things on this boat.

We removed the old tank and replaced it with a new 65 gallon tank. Here is the new tank in place.
As you can see here we have already foamed in the tank, run all controls and wires through the chase and connected all plumbing. Next job will be to replace the console with some modifications including a new hydraulic steering system.
The new tank was built so that all plumbing fittings aligned with the existing inspection hatches in the floor hatch. Here is the sender and gas fill tube and grounding wire access.
At the front of the hatch is the tank vent hose.
At the rear of the hatch is the access to the pick-up tube.
The job is going well and the boat is coming together.
