The final top coat was applied to the non skid surface. Once the paint set up the masking tape was removed and made the 23Mako that much closer to completion.
The arch is back from the the fabricator and has been installed on the console of the 23 Mako. As usual a little gentle force was use to make it fit properly.
Today the rub rail was installed on the the Mako. The Rub Rail in terms of aesthetics is like how crown molding finishes off the room.
Today Capt. Al lorenzetti and George Yurcak have been wiring the1979 Mako 23. All the terminals are heat shrank and the terminal block is being labeled for easy reference in the future.
Attention to detail is what makes this custom restoration project so special. To give the neat clean look that the boat owner and Babylon Boat Works is looking for requires all the screws and fasteners to be out of sight. This is a tedious job but well worth the effort.
Today was a busy day at Babylon Boat Works. Captain Al Lorenzetti installed the new starboard trim and the hanging rod holders below the gunwales. Then the center consoled was fastened on to the deck.
We are starting another complete restoration for Tony Daidone on another 1979 23 foot Mako. This boat is in very good shape and lived its entire old life on Lake Michigan. Having lived in only fresh water makes things a lot easier. There is no salt water corrosion of parts and the boat never had bottom paint on it. It is coming along real good and we will be posting lots of new photos of the work in progress very shortly.
